Still running SAP Business One 9.3 or lower? Time to Consider an Upgrade!
You’ve been running SAP Business One for several years, focusing on day-to-day operations, growth, and keeping your business on track. Either upgrading hasn’t been a priority, or perhaps you just haven’t had the time to think about it. However, having an upgrade strategy is more critical than you might realize. Running an outdated version of SAP Business One, especially anything lower than version 9.3, could expose your business to risks while preventing you from leveraging the full potential of your investment.
In a recent Client Care presentation, our consultants had an insightful conversation with our customers about the importance of upgrading SAP Business One. If you could not attend, well today’s your lucky day, because you are about to learn the top takeaways from that discussion.
SAP Business One Security Risks
If you’re on version 9.3 or lower, there’s a strong chance that you’re also running an unsupported version of Windows. Unsupported Windows versions no longer receive crucial security updates from Microsoft, which protect your systems against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that could compromise and expose your business data.
When upgrading your Windows operating system, it’s essential to verify that your version of SAP Business One is compatible, as mismatched versions can lead to additional issues.
SAP Business One Vendor Support and Extra Costs
The mainstream maintenance period has ended for SAP Business One versions 9.3 and lower. This means that SAP no longer provides fixes, legal updates, or enhancements for these versions. If you run into a situation where you need support—whether from SAP or a third-party addon vendor—chances are you’ll receive a recommendation to upgrade before any fixes are applied.
Missing Out on SAP Business One Enhanced Functionality
Newer versions of SAP Business One offer long awaited features like RMA (Return Material Authorization), tab-level authorizations, and the Web Client, just to name a few. In addition to new functionality, upgrading ensures better system performance and legal compliance.
